Canon has announced the five megapixel PowerShot G5. While we are often happy to respect embargo's it's getting repeatedly more frustrating when you see so called embargo information published sometimes weeks ahead of the real announcement. The PowerShot G5 is a camera I feel Canon should have announced at Photokina last year instead of the G3, it's a essentially a black bodied, five megapixel version of that camera. Five megapixel 1/1.8" sensor and a four times optical zoom lens, the competition will be Sony's DSC-V1. With a stunning combination of resolution, speed and control, all housed in a rugged, elegant new black enclosure, the PowerShot G5 takes the lead as Canon's flagship PowerShot. With a host of improvements and professional features, the PowerShot G5 will exceed the expectations of even the most discerning photographer.Advanced features include 12 EOS System-based shooting modes for customizing the camera to the user's shooting style; a new Wide-Area FlexiZone AF/AE system which allow users to focus on off-center subjects without repositioning the camera; Spot Metering; and Zoom Playback up to 10X. An Intelligent Orientation Sensor automatically rotates images for proper viewing during playback. And the G5 has a Direct Print function that is compatible with Canon's CP-10 and CP-100 dye-sublimation printers as well as Bubble Jet Direct photo printers for fast, high-quality photos without a computer.Sunday, October 26, 2008
